Levels of Care for Treating Opioid Use Disorder

Our programs include multiple levels of care, including detox coordination, residential treatment, intensive outpatient care, and outpatient programs. We use clinical assessments and collaborate closely with clients to determine what levels of care may lead to the best possible outcomes.

Detox Coordination

We do not offer detox services on-site. Our clinicians, admissions team, and case managers help individuals and families navigate the detox process by providing referrals, information, and resources. We also offer additional support during the transition from local medical detoxification services to our residential or outpatient rehab programs.

Residential Treatment

Our central location in Long Beach allows us to provide accessible residential care to people from all over Southern California. Residential treatment gives clients a safe and drug-free living space where they can focus on healing and developing life skills to support lasting sobriety.

Inpatient treatment gives clients the opportunity to build healthy relationships and routines away from the distractions and triggers of everyday life. We offer 24/7 supervision and emotional support to ensure clients receive the care they need to heal from the effects of addiction and learn to effectively manage their condition.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

People who may need a higher level of outpatient care, but do not need inpatient treatment, often benefit from partial hospitalization. We can provide referrals and facilitate PHP treatment as part of our continuum of care. Clients may choose to transition from our residential program to an outside PHP program and then back to our intensive outpatient program. The consistent support from our case managers makes the process smooth and seamless.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Our intensive outpatient program offers clients a more flexible schedule that can accommodate work, school, or home responsibilities. During IOP, clients return home at night and during the weekends while attending around 12 hours of comprehensive therapy throughout the week.

We also offer an outpatient program as a step-down from our IOP program, which includes multiple days of individual and group therapy and provides continuing support to clients throughout the week. LifeSpring Home Nutrition encourages clients to take advantage of the gradual step-down process we offer through our continuum of care to ensure a positive treatment experience and the best possible outcomes.

Sober Living and Aftercare Planning

We help clients and their loved ones prepare for lasting recovery by providing aftercare planning, crisis management, and relapse prevention strategies, and a sober living community. Aftercare planning ensures clients understand all of the resources available to them and what to expect during early recovery. Our clinicians use aftercare planning to help clients and their loved ones identify any potential issues and develop solutions before returning home.

Some people may not feel ready to return home immediately after completing residential treatment, or they may not have a safe space to continue healing. Our sober living community gives clients extra time to build healthy coping skills and a strong support system before they return home.

What to Expect From Addiction Treatment

Addiction medicine provides people with a safe place to learn about their condition, receive compassionate care, and develop skills for managing SUD long-term.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Individuals with substance use disorders may have one or more co-occurring mental health conditions. New Found Life offers mental health services to treat dual diagnosis, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), group therapy, and family therapy.

Holistic and Evidence-Based Treatment

Our integrative approach combines holistic and evidence-based treatment options. Clients can participate in yoga, meditation, and other holistic therapies to reduce stress and manage anxiety. Evidence-based therapies challenge maladaptive thought patterns and teach healthy coping skills. We combine them to provide a whole-person care experience that addresses the root causes of addiction and dual diagnosis.

Relapse Prevention

We use relapse prevention education to prepare clients to successfully manage their condition independently once they transition out of treatment. Clinicians use psychoeducation, safety planning, and other tools to reduce the risk of relapse and improve treatment outcomes.

Alumni Support

New Found Life offers ongoing support to alumni and their families. Our welcoming community allows alumni to use the skills they learn to build mutually supportive relationships with sober peers. We also check in regularly with clients during the first several months of aftercare and ongoing recovery to provide assistance, support, and resources.

When to Seek Treatment for Opioid Addiction

If you or someone you love abuses opioids like fentanyl or other substances, including alcohol, benzodiazepines, or prescription medications, seek treatment early to avoid lasting side effects.

Signs You or a Loved One Needs Help

Some of the most common warning signs that you or a loved one might benefit from professional addiction treatment include an inability to stop abusing prescription or illicit opioids, needing to take more of the drug to achieve the same effects, continuing to abuse opioids despite negative consequences, and a decrease in quality of life due to opioid dependence or addiction. SUD must be diagnosed by a licensed clinician.

The first step in treatment involves medical detox to ensure safety and comfort during withdrawal. We can offer a referral to local trusted medical detox programs and case management to smooth the transition from detoxification to our inpatient or outpatient services.

How Early Intervention Improves Outcomes

The effects of opioid use disorder (OUD) and other forms of addiction build over time, making early detection, intervention, and treatment essential. We educate individuals and families on the warning signs of SUD and offer assistance with beginning the treatment process. Our case managers and addiction recovery experts can guide families through every stage of rehabilitation from detox facilitation to aftercare.

People who receive treatment early may experience less severe withdrawal symptoms and shorter-lasting side effects. Family members and close friends often provide the needed motivation and intervention that gives people the prompting they need to get help and enter professional treatment.

Continued Support in the Recovery Journey

We believe that community and peer relationships play a vital role in ongoing recovery for people with SUD or dual diagnosis. Our facility offers continued support in the form of community events and activities, resources, referrals, check-ins, and mentor or mentee support opportunities.

Group Counseling

Our care team uses group counseling to enhance the effectiveness of individual psychotherapy and other forms of treatment. We use various therapeutic modalities during sessions, tailored to the unique needs of each group. Counselors may use a combination of CBT, DBT, mindfulness, breath work, and other evidence-based or holistic therapies to teach practical coping skills. Group sessions also provide people with a safe space to express themselves, share their experiences, and learn from others who have similar life experiences.

12-Step Facilitation

We encourage people to use community-based resources to expand their support system and build healthy connections with sober peers for long-term recovery support. Our clinicians use 12-Step immersion to introduce clients to the 12-Step philosophy and the format of meetings for groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA). Clients do not have to practice any spiritual or religious belief to benefit from the accountability and mutual peer support of 12-Step immersion.

Healing With Family Involvement

Addiction impacts all members of a family, and everyone benefits from participating in the treatment process. Individuals in rehabilitation programs often have better long-term outcomes if they have family members who provide emotional and practical support, attend family therapy, engage with other families in the recovery community, and educate themselves on addiction. We provide family therapy and psychoeducation, and can provide information on local support groups or community-based programs for family members of individuals with SUD. Our alumni services also include ongoing support for families of alumni. We offer community events, local resources, and other opportunities for families of alumni and current clients.

FAQs

Many insurance providers, including Medicare and Medicaid, cover residential or outpatient addiction recovery services. Legally, health insurance providers must cover rehab treatment deemed medically necessary by a doctor. However, your specific insurance plan will determine which services and treatment facilities it covers. New Found Life can help potential clients or their loved ones check eligibility and coverage details. We can also help you navigate any requirements, such as prior authorization or an appeal if your insurance denied your doctor’s claim of medical necessity.

Outpatient services may include at-home detox support, partial hospitalization, or intensive outpatient programs. We offer multiple levels of outpatient care to increase flexibility and allow clients to step down gradually through a comprehensive continuum of care. Insurance generally partially or fully covers services and programs deemed medically necessary by a doctor.

No. We do not offer detox services on-site. Our clinicians can provide referrals to local alcohol and drug detox programs. We have case management, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and other services to help facilitate the transition between off-site detox and our programs. Local detox centers stabilize withdrawal symptoms, and our team guides people through the onboarding process at our treatment center.

Our MAT services include short-term Suboxone, methadone, and buprenorphine prescriptions when appropriate. We do not offer long-term Suboxone maintenance and limit prescription medications when possible to reduce the risk of side effects or medication interactions during early recovery.
