Support for Medical Professionals

Medical professionals deal with life and death situations every day. The stress of their careers, combined with increased access to prescription medication, puts them at high risk for substance use disorder. Various studies have shown that between 10 and 15 percent of healthcare providers deal with substance misuse at some point in their lives, and that they are five percent more likely to become addicted than the general population. Fortunately, with proper treatment, it is possible for medical professionals to recover.
To this end, New Found Life has established our medical professionals support group: a program approved by the Medical Board of California. This recurring meeting is designed to help physicians address substance use, emotional issues, and career stressors among their peers. Our ultimate aim is to help the entire group move towards lasting recovery.

Substance Abuse Support Group: What to Expect

All of our meetings take place through a secure online meeting platform. These weekly sessions are held on Mondays from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Those who participate may receive summary reports as needed for their respective licensing boards. We provide referrals to other services, discharge plans, and psychologist-provided psychotherapy.
Each session is facilitated by Gregory Corbin, MA, MFT. Since the beginning of his career in 1979, Greg has worked with adults, adolescents, and families impacted by substance use disorder. For 30 years, he has administered health care services and treatment programs for patients of all ages. As an expert in this area, Greg provides the structure and guidance needed for in-depth conversations and transformational meetings.
